Set a great foundation for your yoga practice with this four week Jivamukti yoga for beginners course. Jivamukti yoga is one of the nine internationally recognised styles of hatha yoga. Exploring a different theme each week, you will learn a range of asanas (yoga postures) and how to effectively use props, with alignment as the emphasis.


The material presented in this course is from the Jivamukti fundamentals curriculum and will explore several different themes: standing asanas, forward bending asanas, backward bending asanas, inversions, meditation and "putting it all together." Time will also be given to practice breathing techniques and deep relaxation.


The four weeks will provide the underlying structure to help you eventually enter into an open class intelligently and safely. This course is suitable for beginners, but all levels of practitioner can benefit from exploring the alignment essentials presented in these classes.

Journey Through the Chakras: Discover Clear 20/20 vision

The chakra system forms part of the anatomy of the subtle body; the 7 main chakras align with the spine, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. There are correlations between the 7 main chakras and certain physical body parts, organs, senses and more.

The Jivamukti Yoga method, co-founded by Sharon Gannon and David Life, works with the chakra system as an extremely powerful tool for resolving karmas and repairing relationships with others.



The workshop will start with a brief introduction to the chakra system, prana and main nadis (energy channels) in the subtle body. This will lead into a practical experience of the chakra system through asana, pranayama and mantra. A full spectrum physical practice including standing poses, forward bends, twists, backbends, inversions and deep relaxation.


The workshop will conclude with meditation to further assimilate this harmonising practice.

Jivamukti is an integrated approach to practicing Yoga; the five tenets and a monthly changing focus provide us with renewing inspiration; encouraging self-inquiry and the space to develop personal insight through our practice, carrying that with us into daily life.


The five tenets we will explore through practice and discusion are:


Ahimsa: non violent, compassionate lifestyle

Bhakti: devotional practices

Nada: sound, deep listening

Dhyana: meditation

Shastra: scriptural study


Expect an uplifting and vigorous Jivamukti style vinyasa practice, as well as time dedicated to chanting, meditation and a deep relaxation all combined into one integrated workshop. Whether you are already practicing Jivamukti or are interested in knowing more about the method, this workshop is open to all who have some familiarity with a vinyasa practice.
